In Lou Schuler’s book “The new rules of Lifting for Women” he brings up the point that most of us trainers are trying to get across to our women clients-Strength Training is good for you.
This seems to be the big selling point of his argument. In a study conducted at the University of Colorado, 2 groups were exercised for same amount of time-one with strength/wgt training routine and the other with a cardio routine.
5 hours after the exercise session, the strength group was burning 22% more fat calories than the cardio group. So if weight loss is your primary reason for working out, then it seems to reason that a strength training program would be more beneficial for accomplishing your goals.
Remember, at Coach K fitness,we train smarter.
