I was recently teaching some new clients the Coach K system for running (we call it gliding). The comment that kept coming up with each new person was “you have to think a lot to do this”.
Yes, sad but true you will have to think a lot.
Thinking is good.
Working smarter is good.
Working hard and going nowhere is not so good. ( I think this applies to lot of life).
This is the same as when you learn to play piano or ballroom dance or drive on the interstate for 1st time. It takes lots of concentration to remember all the pieces. Then it takes lots of practice. Having a teacher/coach is very beneficial at this point. Having a video of your before/after run sessions to watch, so that you can see the changes in your technique can be very helpful. Eventually it will be ingrained in your muscle memory, and that constipated look on your face will go away.
Other option,,slap on your iPod and go run like you have done before and keep wishing you were better.
